1974 His Holiness the Archbishop Victorin submitted to the approval of the Diocesan Council, in the meeting of April 10, 1974, the request for the establishment of an Orthodox parish in New York, which would be under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of America and Canada. After the Diocesan Council unanimously approved the establishment of these new parishes, priest Nicolae Bârsan was transferred from Philadelphia to New York.
1976 On January 19, the registration certificate is obtained: "Certificate of Incorporation from Albany, New York, of the St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church New York". At first, the service was held in a chapel rented from the Presbyterians, in Manhattan. Like any beginning, it was more difficult, especially since Fr. Bârsan transferred to Detroit and after he returned, he moved with the families of several parishioners to the Diocese of Vatra, establishing the "Saint Marie" parish.
1984 His Holiness Archbishop Victorin appoints Br. Dr. Vasile Vasilache. With the coming of P.C. With his and with the generous contribution of the believers, a building located in Woodside, 45-03, 48th Ave., is bought, which cost $85,000, the amount that over six years is paid by the believers.
1998-2000 Foundation of the great shepherd of souls, Archimandrite Mitrofor Dr. Vasile Vasilache, the church dedicated to Saint Hierarch Nicholas and Saint Great Mc. Gheorghe was consecrated for the first time on December 9, 1984 by the worthy Archbishop Victorin Ursache. Since then, the church has gone through several stages of beautification: the carpentry and four paintings (Last Supper, Jesus Christ the Pantocrator, The Mother of God-Platytera, Assumption of the Virgin Mary), all made during the pastorate of Father Vasile Vasilache.
2011-2012 The New Holy Table, Axionita and four tetrapods of carved linden wood, stained glass-mosaic on the exterior facade and other consolidation works of the church (2011-2012), culminating in the rededication of the church on December 9, 2012 by His Holiness the Metropolitan Nicolae and PS Ioan Casian.
2022 With God's help, the Church is decorated with church painting in Byzantine style. The icons inside the church, of particular beauty, were made in Romania at Ponor Monastery, Alba County, by Mother Antonia, under the spiritual guidance of Father Irineu Curtescu. The placement of the icons on the wall, according to the project approved by His Holiness the Metropolitan Nicolae, was done by the painter Constantin Coșa. The consecration of the painting of the Church of Saint Nicholas and Saint George in New York in 2022 was a service invoking the grace and work of the Most Holy Trinity as these icons sanctified to become a source of power, blessing and healing for all those who, entering this church, will worship before them with faith, asking for the intercession of the saints represented in them and, at the same time, a solemn moment of pious gratitude and appreciation towards the founders of this Church and to all those who preserved, restored and beautified it over time.
