Father Marius Dumitrescu

Welcome Word from the Parish Priest,

                                         Marius D. Dumitrescu

“If the Lord does not build the house, its builders labor in vain; if the Lord does not protect the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.." (Ps. 127:1).

Dear brothers in Christ the Lord,

With God's mercy and help, I am the parish priest of this holy place and together

with you praying to the Savior Christ.

First I want to thank God for all His rich gifts, poured out on our holy church and upon your brethren, worshipful, tiresome, and worthy of Christian love.

The Holy Church is the ship of salvation, it is the place where Heaven meets Earth, and man meets God. Here, through the bloodless sacrifice on the Holy Table, "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God the Father and the communion of the Holy Spirit" pours over those who participate in the Holy Liturgy, deifying them through communion with the Body and Blood of the Lord.

Here is where our children are getting married conquered by the feeling of love and determined to spend the rest of their lives together. Here we mourn all the sleeping ones of our nations, asking the Lord God to remember them in His kingdom.

Here at the church of Saint Hierarch Nicholas and Saint Great Mc. George from New York, I understood that the talents spoken of in the Holy Scriptures are also the laborers that God places in the parish community. Each person with his gifts can be fruitful in the life of the parish, and here I want to say that God has blessed us with good people dedicated to community service, Christians who strive to make the church a setting where new generations learn to know their roots and to keep in touch with everything related to Romanian spirituality.

As the worthy Father Archimandrite Mitrofor Vasile Vasilache, the first parish priest of this church, taught us, "to keep our eyes always fixed on our Lord Jesus Christ, to see what He did when He came to earth to save people and what He would have done now, and so let us also strive to fulfill." - The triple love of God, the Church and the Nation.

We pray that you, your family and others will find our doors always open and that our Church will become a home for you as well. You are sincerely invited to join the family of the Romanian Orthodox Church of Saint Nicholas and Saint George in New York.

We welcome you in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

May the Lord keep you safe!

ABOUT US

The parish of Saint Hierarch Nicolae and Saint Great Martyr Gheorghe was founded in 1974 on the initiative of several Romanian families who arrived in New York. These Romanians of good faith, leaving their country, wanted to keep in touch with their motherland, through the church.
